We're Not So Different,You and I

I was 5'4" at 19 years old the first time I was told I should lose weight. I weighed only 116 pounds. After three months of practically starving, I had gained 17 pounds. I know what a lifetime of ignoring the slurs and insults can do to you. I had not stepped on a scale in years. When I did and saw I was closing in on 300 pounds, I broke down in tears. It’s a fact that the doctors refused to perform stomach bypass surgery. No problem, I settled for being the fat Granny and Aunt. I had gradually gained weight year after year, dieting or not.

So, facts are facts: I have only had one notable success in decades of attempts at dieting. When I looked back at all of those failed attempts, I finally saw that there was always a few things 'I' did that sabotaged my success: boredom, finances, and time constraints add those together with a lack of self control, support, and a major lack of self esteem made failure inevitable.

Sound familiar? As I see it, what happens is that the initial exuberance wears off if weight loss begins too slow, frustration and boredom kick in. The cost of prepackaged, delivered meals was and is out of the question for long term weight loss. If you have only 5 or 10 pounds to lose it can happen fast, in only a weeks or two. But what about 50, 100 or even 150 or more? Our brains blur out and our dreams are pushed away. We know that we do not have the will of a Mac truck to continue down the road of humiliation and defeat. I lost 20 pounds per month the first three month...

It’s a vicious cycle, and it’s the bane of almost every dieter at one time or another. So, one night I drempt about something that changed it all for me. Those that have boarded my train know that we can do anything for a certain time period, some times are longer than others. Some eat breakfast, some don't, some do it with partners, some don't. Some only want to lose for a special occasion or a special person. I have my person, there are no forthcoming occasions, and I am a good enough reason to do it for myself, and maybe gain a little more time here in this world of milk and honey.
In order to lose weight, love your neighbor, or win at anything, you must first be as trainable as a spoon fed child, find the joy in it, learn a few secrets about yourself, and then you can share your newfound freedom, knowledge, and skills to help others imprisoned in their own cell of fat. — thereby we can each be over-comers and grab the the best chance of success. A Day in Our Life
We're an old married couple that spent
years fighting weight gain until we found the 5 Bite Diet!
Brunch
We each have a cup of hibiscus yarrow tea, laced with an 1/8 teaspoon each of ginger, turmeric, clove, cinnamon, & cayenne, with our daily vitamins & meds.
​
Then we share scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese & turkey sausage in an crock-pot, and Granny only takes 5 Bites, while Gramps take 10 Bites, and the rest goes in the fridge for the next few mornings.
Afternoon Snack
Gramps and I each have a tall glass of Tetley iced tea with a splash of lemon.
Our go-to snack is 'a bite or two' of turkey polish sausage dipped in jalapeno mustard.
Dinner
Gramps has a cup of Dollar Tree Instant coffee and I have a goblet of iced lemon water with Sucralose.
Our absolute favorite dish is a George Foreman grilled chicken breast dipped in Sriracha ketchup. Pictured, on the side, are deeply sliced and roasted radishes in coconut oil. Spiced with fresh rosemary straight from the garden. Again only 5 Bites total are eaten by Granny!
Last Snack
To sip, we both have a hot cup of coffee with Splenda & a shake of 'Pain Tea Powder' that tastes like xmas in a cup.
With night pills we have 1 or 4 gluten free puffs,
1 spoon of sherbet,
1" cube each of cheese & chicken or a cold, hard boiled egg. The item and amount depends on how many bites were taken during the day.
Gotta love that protein

Every time we think about any type of change in our life... Change Happens. The only thing that is promised in life is change… and then there are death and taxes if you ask Ben Franklin. Change can be good or bad. Until you can FIGURE OUT WHY YOU SABOTAGE YOURSELF WHEN DIETING... and do something about it... nothing will change there! Oprah has yet to figure it out with all her billions. It is a simple concept but for many it is very difficult to put into action. It took Granny nearly her whole life to find out what she knew at 4 years old. Are you fine with waiting a life time? The answer is NOT the 5 Bite Diet, but it does help with this diet and many other things in life.
