How following the 5 Bite Diet plan helps anyone reach success

At 12 total bites per day most folks will be consuming about 500-600 calories per day. It take your body around 1000 per day just for autonomic processes; blinking eyes, heart pumping, digestion, perspiring, hair growth, etc. 2000 calories equals one pound. The other five-hundred calories needed for body function is coming from your stored fat. That is why you will be losing fat so fast, and getting tired on occasion, if you are too active.





The 5 Bite Diet’s central premise is that by learning to eat like a person who has undergone gastric bypass surgery, you’ll shed the weight without needing the procedure. At age 71, I in 2020 was the first time I had heard of the 5 Bite Diet. After dying twice on the operating table, having many health issues, there was no way my doctor would permit stomach bypass surgery. I started at 285 pounds, with a 20 bite maximum per meal and 5 bite maximum for my 2 snacks, and have not looked back.

Accordingly, the best portion sizes are restricted to a maximum of 10–12 regular-sized bites of food for the entire day. You may start on this plan immediately or gradually reduce your intake over a few days or weeks, as I did.

To achieve its guidelines, the 5 Bite Diet encourages you to skip breakfast, drinking only black coffee instead. There was no way under heaven that would ever work in my home. You may then eat whatever you would like for lunch and dinner, as long as the total number of bites does not exceed five per meal, or what ever number you are comfortable starting at, as long as you are progressing toward the 5 Bite maximum.


Though no foods are off limits, at least one bite per meal — or a minimum of two per day — should come from a protein-rich source, such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy, tofu, seeds, nuts or legumes to help maintain bone and muscle integrity. Daily include in your food and beverages ginger, turmeric, garlic, and clove to prevent the breakdown and support the build up of collagen, reducing the amount of saggy skin from fast reduction.

You may also have 'a' bite of food between meals for a maximum of two, one-bite snacks each day and drink unlimited amounts of calorie-free drinks.

Low-intensity exercise is allowed, but 'never' do moderate- and high-intensity workouts

on this diet. Your body needs every calorie available to maintain life functions.


To cover any potential nutrient deficiencies, it’s recommended to take a multivitamin and an omega-3 supplement each day. I have restless-leg-syndrome and take 2 extra magnesium and 2 extra potassium pills to off-set the leg cramps.


Once you reach your goal weight, whether it takes one week, a month, or six months, you’re advised to switch to a more sustainable, nutrient-rich diet to maintain your weight loss. I plan on slowly, a week at a time, introducing more food into my diet a few bites at a time to see how to form a plateau or holding zone.
